Artificial intelligence can predict when a person may die

The AI that predicts the death of people after analyzing EKG exams.

Una Artificial Intelligence it has managed to predict, with enough accuracy, the soon death of a person within a year. This AI is based solely on the results of the cardiac tests performed on the person in question. This intelligence system had the ability to even predict death of patients through values that for usual doctors were totally normalized.

The study was discovered by Dr. Brandon Fornwalt, from the Geisinger Medical Center, in the State of Pennsylvania, United States. Dr Fornwalt, in collaboration with multiple colleagues, fueled the AI with a massive amount of information from remote data. About 1.77 million examinations of approximately four hundred thousand people; furthermore, the AI was asked to say who was older chances of dying in the next 12 months.

Predicting death, true or false?

The research team trained two different versions of artificial intelligence. In one of them, only the exam data was entered (electrocardiograms)In the second, she was fed the electrocardiograms in addition to the age and sex of each of the patients.

The machine's ability to hit the mark was tested using a metric known as AUC. This meter very well takes into account the ability of an AI to differentiate between two groups of people, one made up of people who died a year after the prediction, and another who managed to stay alive. Obtaining a result of 0.85, with the highest score being 1.

The ability of this AI to predict death is something that is still unexplained to researchers.
