What is the Internet of Things (IoT)?
It is an assessment that is becoming more and more relevant, but it has not yet come to fruition in homes.
IoT is a sector that has been developing for approximately two decades, its objective is to achieve the possibility of connecting different devices to improve the environment in which we operate on a daily basis.
The internet of things (IoT, for its acronym in English, Internet of Things), is based on the method of interconnectivity between machines, objects, computing devices, people or animals that have unique identifiers, with the aim of offering us greater comfort in our homes,
By combining various devices that are connected with automation systems, it will be possible to collect information, as well as analyze and even create an action to help one or more people to perform a task.
One of the most interesting peculiarities of IoT devices is that they can produce huge amounts of data. This can be used specifically in applications such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
Why does the IoT have endless uses?
These range from household chores (charging the purchase from the fridge or turning on the air conditioning, as well as the heating), leisure (such as smartwatches or google glass, etc.), health (blood tests or applications that monitor health, etc.), and that is precisely its greatest potential: the fact that it can be applied in different aspects of our lives.
The Internet of Things (IoT) system is compromised by 4 main components and they work in this way:
. Sensors: enables devices to collect data from the surrounding environment (eg: temperature, GPS coordinates, speed, etc.).
. Connectivity: The data that is collected is sent to the cloud through a Bluetooth or WiFi connection.
. Data processing: After the data is received by the cloud infrastructure, it can be processed (eg, verify if the received data meets the requirements).
. User interface: When the received data is processed, the results are delivered and alerted to the user.
It is clear that we are going to a world in which everything is going to be interconnected, we are going to the Internet of Things (IoT).
